| The White-backed Duck (Thalassornis leuconotus) is a small African duck typically found in fresh water and usually in floating vegetation. The white back is only visible in flight. The White-backed Duck here was on a private reserve near Malelane, Mpumalanga Province, South Africa, in January, 2006. These two shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and an EF 500mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender. | |
