The Red-breasted Nuthatch (Sitta canadensis) is a nesting bird throughout the Rocky and Appalachian Mountains as well as much of Canada and the far northern United States. The species may be found in winter virtually anywhere in the U.S. The first image on this page shows a Red-breasted Nuthatch in Coos Co., New Hampshire in June, 2010. This image was taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and an EF 800mm F/5.6 L IS lens.
