Tropical Skimmer
Uracis imbuta
The Tropical Skimmer (Uracis imbuta) is a widespread and common species in parts of South America. It was commonly seen while walking along rain forest trails. The individuals shown on this page were all photographed at the Amazon Conservancy for Tropical Studies (ACTS), near the Rio Napo, Departmento de Loreto, Peru, in July, 2006. These images were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender and 580 flash.
