| The Juniper Hairstreak (Callophrys gryneus) is a widespread butterfly of much of the eastern United States. In Texas, it is usually found near red cedar or ashe juniper. The individual in the top 4 images shown here was in Austin, Travis Co., Texas, in March, 2008. These shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender. The Juniper Hairstreaks in central Texas, such as the one in the first four images shown here, is referred to as "Olive" Juniper Hairstreak (C. g. gryneus). |  |
