Four-spotted Pennant
Brachymesia gravida
The Four-spotted Pennant (Brachymesia gravida) is a medium-sized dragonfly of the southeastern U.S. It can be extremely common in central Texas where thousands can sometimes be found at some ponds. The first 2 shots here, of young males, were digital captures in Austin, Travis Co., Texas in May, 2003, and were shot with a Canon EOS 10D and EF 300 mm F4 L IS lens with a 1.4X extender and 550 EX flash.
