The Flame-tailed Pondhawk (Erythemis peruviana) is a species widespread along rivers in parts of South America. The species has been recorded one time in the United States, in South Texas. The 4 shots of a male on this page were taken in a marshy area along the edge of the Rio Amazon, Departmento de Loreto, Peru, in July, 2006 with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender and 580 flash.
