The Black Bear (Ursus americanus) was formerly widespread across all of North America and parts of Mexico. In modern times, however, it is most commonly found in the Rocky Mountains, Canada, Alaska, parts of the northern United States and areas of the Appalachians, the Ozarks, and parts of the southeast. The Black Bear in the first three shots on this page was at the Arctic Valley Ski Area near Anchorage, Alaska, in May, 2012. The images were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and an EF 70-200 F/2.8 L IS lens.
