The Belted Whiteface (Leucorrhinia proxima) occurs in the northern U.S. as well as most of Canada. The males shown in the first 2 shots were photographed in Algonquin Provincial Park, Nipissing Co., Ontario, Canada, in July, 2005, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens with a 2X extender and 580 EX flash.
The next 3 shots of male and female Belted Whiteface were taken near Lee, Penobscot Co., Maine, in June, 2010, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and an EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender and 580 flash.
