Nazca Booby
Sula granti
The Nazca Booby (Sula granti) is a fairly common pelagic species in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Ecuador. It was only recently given full species status having been split from Masked Booby (Sula dactylatra). It is a fairly common nester on a number of the islands in the Galapagos. The first 2 shots shown here were taken in July, 2003 on the Galapagos Islands. These photos were digital captures with a Canon EOS 10D and an EF 70-200 mm F/2.8 L IS lens.
The adult Nazca Booby in flight shown here was at Hood Island in the Galapagos in July, 2007. This shot was taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 500mm F/5 L IS lens.
The next ten images of Nazca Booby were taken on the Galapagos Islands in August, 2010, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and a Sigma 50-500mm lens. The bird here was on Hood Island.
