Hutton's Vireo
Vireo huttoni
The Hutton's Vireo (Vireo huttoni) occurs from the mountains of west Texas into montane New Mexico and Arizona and up the coast to the Pacific northwest. It is a fairly plain little bird that is quite inconspicuous except for its distinctive vocalizations. The bird in the top 3 images here was on Mt. Lemon, Tucson, Pima Co., Arizona, in May, 2008. These images were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 600mm F/4 L IS lens and 1.4X extender.
This shot was also taken in May, 2008, with the same gear but in the Huachuca Mountains, Cochise Co., Arizona.
