| The Dickcissel (Spiza americana) breeds across much of the central United States and occasionally in northern Mexico and southern Canada. The species winters in northern South America. During the late spring and early summer the distinctive song of this species may be commonly heard in many areas of its breeding range. The first 3 shots of a singing male Dickcissel on this page were taken in Austin, Travis Co., Texas, in April, 2008, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 600mm F/4 L IS lens and 1.4X extender. |  |
