The Regal Horned Lizard (Phrynosoma solare) is essentially a Mexican species which only occurs in southeast Arizona in the U.S. It is a fairly large, flat-bodied species with an impressive set of "horns" which radiate out from the head. The animal in the top 8 shots on this page was in Tucson, Pima Co., Arizona, in May, 2008. These images were taken with a canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 300mm F/4 l IS lens.
