Gila Monster
Heloderma suspectum
The Gila Monster (Heloderma suspectum) is a large, venomous lizard native to the southwestern United States in parts of Nevada, Utah, California, New Mexico, and Arizona. The range of the species extends southward into Mexico as well. The first 16 images on this page show two different Gila Monsters in the area of Tucson, Pima Co., Arizona, in March, 2009. These images were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and an EF 70-200mm F/2.8 L IS lens.
