The *Common Checkered-Skipper (Pyrgus communis)* is widespread and common across most of the United States and Mexico. This species is visually identical to the White-checkered Skipper (Pyrgus albescens) and the two cannot be reliably separated in the field. The first two shots shown here were taken near the Nueces River in Real Co., Texas, in May, 2003. These images were taken with a Canon EOS 10D and an EF 70-200 F/2.8 L IS lens and 2X extender.
