The *Brown-hooded Kingfisher (Halcyon albiventris)* is widespread over southeast Africa. The one shown here was near Lataba Camp, in Kruger National Park, Limpopo Province, South Africa in January, 2006. The photos were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II & EF 500mm F/4L IS lens and a 1.4X extender. The bird is a little ratty looking because it is moulting at this time of year.
