Scarlet Ibis
Eudocimus ruber
Scarlet Ibis (Eudocimus ruber) is a widespread species on the llanos of Venezuela. The birds in the first six images, adults and immatures, were photographed at Hato El Cedral, Apure, Venezuela, in April, 1992. The photos were taken with a Canon T-90 & Sigma 500mm F4.5 lens mounted on a Bogen tripod. Kodachrome 64 film was used. Numerous Wattled Jacanas (Jacana jacana) are also visible in the photos.

The Scarlet Ibis at right is next to a Brazilian Duck (Amazonetta brasiliensis).
The next two shots show immature Scarlet Ibises with many Wattled Jacanas around them.
