| The Least Sandpiper (Calidris minutilla) breeds widely across northern Canada and Alaska and winters across the southern United States and Mexico. It can be one of our most abundant shorebirds. The 2 birds at the right were migrants along the Texas coast in Jefferson Co., in May, 2001. These photos were taken with a Canon EOS 3 and EF 500mm F/4 L IS lens and 1.4X extender on Fuji Velvia. |  |
