The Hooded Merganser (Lophodytes cucullatus) is a diving duck which breeds across much of the eastern United States and Canada. The first 2 shots of a female on this page were taken at Buzzard Swamp, Allegheny National Forest, Forest Co., Pennsylvania, in June, 2010, with an EOS 1D Mark IV and an EF 800mm F/5.6 L IS lens and 1.4X extender. | |
The next eight shots of male and female Hooded Mergansers were taken in Austin, Travis Co., Texas, in December, 2010, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and an EF 800mm F/5.6 L IS lens and 1.4X extender. These ducks were fairly distant and the images have been cropped quite a bit.
