The Hoary Redpoll (Acanthis hornemanni) is a northern finch closely related to the Common Redpoll. It is typical paler in overall plumage and breeds farther north, however the two species do overlap somewhat in the breeding range. The six shots on this page were taken on Anvil Mountain in Nome, Alaska, in June, 2012 with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and an EF 500mm F/4 L IS lens and 1.4X extender.
The redpoll here is looking up at another redpoll landing above.
