The Alder Flycatcher (Empidonax alnorum) breeds across parts of the northeastern United States and much of Canada and winters outside the United States in western South America. It does not migrate across the Gulf of Mexico like many other neotropical migrants, but rather, is considered a Circum-Gulf migrant. All members of the genus Empidonax should be identified with care since they are all very similar in appearance.
