The American Kestrel (Falco sparverius) is a widespread bird across North America, Central America and much of South America. This bird is a familiar sight to travellers along the highways of the United States since this species often perches on wires and fences and is very easy to see. The bird hunts insects as well as small rodents and birds. The male American Kestrel perched on a wire below is a familiar site across the United States.
