Black-bellied Whistling-Duck
Dendrocygna autumnalis
The Black-bellied Whistling-Duck (Dendrocygna autumnalis) is widespread across much of south and coastal Texas. In recent years it has ranged north across parts of the mid west as well. The following shots of a pair of adult Black-bellieds at a nest box were taken at Brazos Bend State Park, Fort Bend Co., Texas in April, 1998, with a Canon EOS 1N and 300mm F/2.8 L lens and 2X extender on Fuji Sensia 100.
