Westfall's Snaketail
Ophiogomphus westfalli
The Westfall's Snaketail (Ophiogomphus westfalli) is an uncommon and local species along fast flowing, shallow rivers and creeks in parts of the mid west, mainly in Missouri and Arkansas. The first 4 shots on this page were taken along Indian Creek, Franklin Co., Missouri, in June, 2009, with a Cannon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender and 580 flash. The 3rd shot shows a male Powdered Dancer in the background.
