Blue-spotted Comet Darner
Anax concolor
The Blue-spotted Comet Darner (Anax concolor) was first discovered within the United States by Dennis Paulson in June, 2005, at Santa Ana N.W.R., in Hidalgo Co., Texas. Since that time there have been several other records both at Santa Ana N.W.R., Bentsen Rio Grande State Park, and other far south Texas locations. The first 4 images show a female which was collected by Martin Reid in October, 2008 in Hidalgo Co., Texas. The in flight shot of a male is of poor quality, but serves as a record shot. This image was taken at Pintail Lake, Santa Ana N.W.R., in October, 2009, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens.
