Horned Puffin
Fratercula corniculata
The Horned Puffin (Fratercula corniculata) breeds along the coast of Alaska and winters southward on the Pacific coast to Washington and Oregon. On a recent boat trip along Alaska's Inland Passage I was lucky enough to get a couple of quick shots of a pair of Horned Puffins as they passed by our boat. The shot shown here was taken in Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska, in August, 2008, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 500mm F/4 L IS lens and 1.4X extender.
The next two shots of Horned Puffin were taken near Seward, Alaska, in June, 2012, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and an EF 500mm F/4 L IS lens.
