Altamira Oriole
Icterus gularis
The Altamira Oriole (Icterus gularis) is a resident species from extreme south Texas through parts of Mexico to northern Central America. Like other orioles, this species builds a pendulous nest which may be suspended from a tree branch or sometimes from a utility wire. The first six shots on this page, all showing Altamira Orioles at a nest, were taken in southern Tamaulipas, Mexico, in May, 2007, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 500mm F/4 L IS lens.
