The Red-necked Grebe (Podiceps grisegena) is a species of the northern United States, Canada and Alaska, where it may be found on lakes and rivers. The species may wander south of its breeding range during the winter and has occurred at many locations in the southern U.S. The first five images on this page show a breeding plumaged bird in Anchorage, Alaska, in June, 2012. These shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and an EF 500mm F/4 L IS lens and 1.4X extender. | ![]() |
