White-belted Ringtail
Erpetogomphus compositus
The White-belted Ringtail (Erpetogomphus compositus) is a western dragonfly which occurs along rivers and streams from parts of west Texas northward and westward through the southwestern deserts and into the Great Basin all the way up to southeast Washington. The first 5 images on this page were taken along the John Day River near Spray, Wheeler Co., Oregon, in July, 2008, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender.
The next 4 images here were taken along the Yakima River in Benton Co., Washington, in August, 2008, with the same gear previously described.
