Pacific Forktail
Ischnura cervula
The Pacific Forktail (Ischnura cervula) is a damselfly of the western United States. It is visually very similar to the Plains Forktail (I. damula) and a careful examination of the appendages may be necessary to separate the two in areas of overlap. The males in the top two images shown here were at Oxford Reservoir, Franklin Co., Idaho, in July, 2008. These shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender.
The male shown here was near Unity, Baker Co., Oregon, also in July, 2008.
The next 3 shots of female Pacific Forktails were in the Deschutes National Forest, Deschutes Co., Oregon, in August, 2008.
