Mottled Darner
Aeshna clepsydra
The Mottled Darner (Aeshna clepsydra) is a late season species of the northeastern United States and a few aras of southeast Canada. The first two images show an adult male in hand while the next two shots show a newly emerged Mottled Darner still partially attached to the exuviae. Unfortunately, this individual had some sort of problem with its wing which never could be separated from the exuviae so it would not survive. These 4 shots were all taken in Rockingham Co., New Hampshire in August, 2009.
