Tamias minimus
The Least Chipmunk (Tamias minimus) is very common and widespread across much of the western and north-central United States and most of Canada. It is a familiar visitor to campsites and parks where many become quite tame. The species ranges from high elevation mountains down into sagebrush desert. The first 9 images on this page were taken near Breckenridge, Summit Co., Colorado, in July, 2008, with a Canon EOS 40D and EF 70-200mm F/4 L IS lens.
The next 5 shots of Least Chipmunk were taken in high sagebrush desert habitat near Bitter Creek, Sweetwater Co., Wyoming, in August, 2008, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 500mm F/4 L IS lens.
