| The Jade Clubtail (Arigomphus submedianus) is an uncommon clubtail of the mid west. It occurs from Indiana, Illinois and Iowa southward into Texas. It is known to perch along the shores of lakes or ponds which is where this individual was photographed at Buescher State Park, Bastrop Co., Texas in May, 2003. These digital captures were shot with a Canon EOS 10D and EF 300 mm F4 L IS lens with a 1.4 extender and 550 EX flash. |  |

| The mature Jade Clubtail shown here has a bent abdomen as well as disfigured wing tips. It has probably spent its adult life like this and it seemed to fly without trouble. |  |
