The Hoary Skimmer (Libellula nodisticta) is a western skimmer of slow streams and ponds in parts of California, Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico. There are two yellow spots on each side of the thorax and black markings in the wing. The body shows a bluish pruinosity in mature individuals. The first twelve images on this page were taken in Cottonwood Canyon, Comanche National Grasslands, Baca Co., Colorado, in July, 2011.
