Dusky Clubtail
Gomphus spicatus
The Dusky Clubtail (Gomphus spicatus) is a dragonfly of the northeastern United States and parts of Canada. It is very similar in appearance to Ashy Clubtail (Gomphus lividus) and care needs to be taken in the identification of these insects. The first 2 shots on this page were taken at Black Moshannon State Park, Centre Co., Pennsylvania, in June, 2010. These shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender and Canon 580 flash.
The next 3 images, one male and 2 females, were taken with the same photo gear as above, also, in June, 2010, but at Buzzard Swamp, Allegheny National Forest, Forest Co., Pennsylvania.
