| The Duckweed Firetail (Telebasis byersi) is an eastern species which is visually almost identical to Desert Firetail (T. salva). In hand examination may be necessary to make the identification. The Duckweed Firetail is often seen on duckweed covered ponds but it may also use small lily pads as shown shown here. The male shown here was in Jasper Co., Texas, in June, 2009.
