| The Calico Pennant (Celithemis elisa) is a small dragonfly of the eastern U.S. where it can be found at quiet ponds and bogs. The photos here were digital captures in the Angelina National Forest, Angelina Co., Texas in May 2003 and were shot with a Canon EOS 10D and EF 300 mm F4 L IS lens with a 1.4 extender and 550 EX flash. These photos were taken in a pitcher plant bog in a long leaf pine forest. The round, black objects under the abdomen are water mites of some species. |  |
