Burgundy Bluet
Enallagma dubium
The Burgundy Bluet (Enallagma dubium) is a damselfly of black water ponds and lakes as well as slow moving streams in the southeastern United States. The species ranges from Delaware and Maryland south through the Carolinas and Georgia and westward to eastern Texas and Oklahoma. The male shown in the top image shown here was photographed along the edge of Double Lake, San Jacinto Co., Texas, in June, 2008, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender.
The next two shots of a male Burgundy Bluet were taken at a small lake at Gus Engeling Wildlife Management Area, Anderson Co., Texas. These shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and a Sigma 50-500mm lens and Canon 580 flash.
