Black-and-white Damsel
Apanisagrion lais
The Black-and-white Damsel (Apanisagrion lais) is a Mexican damselfly species which, within the United States, is only found in a few locations in south east Arizona. The female in the top two images was in Sycamore Canyon, Santa Cruz Co., Arizona, in May, 2008. These shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 300,, F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender.
The very young female shown here was at Empire Cienega in Pima Co., Arizona, also in May, 2008. The next 5 images were taken at that location with the same gear as above.
The shot shown here as well as the next image show a mature male Black-and-white Damsel.

The next four shots of Black-and-white Damsel were taken in Bass Canyon, Muleshoe Ranch Management Area, Cochise Co., Arizona, in August, 2013. The first two shots are of young females and the 2nd two shots of mature females.
