Least Flycatcher
Empidonax minimus
The Least Flycatcher (Empidonax minimus) breeds across much of the northern United States and most of Canada. It winters mainly south of the United States, but may sometimes be found in Florida or other Gulf Coast areas during winter. This is an active little flycatcher which is fairly common in the proper habitat. The individual shown in the top photo here was a spring migrant near Driftwood, Hays Co., Texas, in May, 1996. The image was taken with a Canon T-90 on Fuji Provia film.
The next three shots of a Least Flycatcher show a spring migrant at South Padre Island, Cameron Co., Texas, in May, 2007. These shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 600mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender.
