The Fish Crow (Corvus ossifragus) occurs along the Atlantic seaboard of the United States, south throughout Florida and west into east Texas. It may range several hundred miles inland, especially up the Mississippi River valley where it occurs as far north as Missouri and Illinois. It is a little smaller than American Crow, but the two species are best distinguished by voice. This calling Fish Crow was on the Sanibel Island Causeway, Lee Co., Florida, in January, 2013. The black bird on the snow-white sand offers quite an exposure challenge.
