The Eastern Bluebird (Sialia sialis) is a member of the thrush family and can be fairly common in open woodland and meadows across much of the eastern United States and southern Canada. The species will utilize man-made nest boxes which makes it a favorite among bird watchers across the country. The image shown here shows a female Eastern Bluebird at the entrance to her nest cavity in a dead tree in Austin, Travis Co., Texas, in May, 2009. This image, and the next 17 images to follow, were all taken at that same time and location with a Canon EOS 50D and an EF 800mm F/5.6 L IS lens. | |
