Great Frigatebird
Fregata minor
The Great Frigatebird (Fregata minor) nests on Tower Island in the Galapagos which is where the top 3 images on this page were taken. The first photo shows a male in breeding display with his inflatable pouch blown up. Next is a shot of another mail "deflated". The digital photos shown here were taken in July, 2003, with a Canon EOS 10D and an EF 70-200 mm F/2.8 L IS lens.
Female Great Frigatebird
On the right are 7 more images of female Great Frigatebirds from the Galapagos. These shots were taken in July, 2007, on Seymour Island, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 100-400mm F/4.5-5.6 L IS lens. The female in the first 3 shots shown here is at a nest with a downy chick.
The next three shots of Great Frigatebird were taken on Tower Island in the Galapagos, in August, 2010, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and a Sigma 50-500mm lens. The bird in the first two shots is a female.
