Sabine National Forest; east Texas mixed pine and hardwood forest

The magnificent Sabine National Forest in Sabine Co., Texas, is a prime example of mature east Texas mixed pine and hardwood forest. One hundred years ago, much of east Texas would have looked very much like the images shown here. These shots were taken in June, 2003, with a Canon EOS 10D and EF 17-35mm F/2.8 lens.
