Proctacanthella cacopiloga

The robber fly on this page is named Proctacanthella cacopiloga. It is a widespread, but small and rather inconspicuous robber that spends a lot of time on the ground. The first 5 shots on this page were taken in Austin, Travis Co., Texas, in October, 2010. These shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and EF 180mm F/3.5 Macro lens with Macro flash.
