Diogmites neoternatus

The robber fly in the top 2 images shown here is Diogmites neoternatus. These two shots were taken along the Republican River near Red Cloud, Webster Co., Nebraska, in July, 2009. The shots were taken on a cool, damp morning, so dew drops are visible on the robber fly as well as the vegetation it is perched on. These 2 shots were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender.
