Tule Bluet
Enallagma carunculatum
The Tule Bluet (Enallagma carunculatum) is a widespread and common damselfly across most of the United States except for the southeastern quarter. It also occurs in many portions of southern Canada. The species may occur in a wide variety of habitats including ponds and lakes as well as flowing rivers, marshes, bogs, etc. The male in the top image shown here, was at Oxford Reservoir, Franklin Co., Idaho, in July, 2008, and was shot with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 300mm F/4 l IS lens and 2X extender and flash. The next two shots showing a pair in tandem and a pair in copula were taken along the Yakima River in Benton Co., Washington, in August, 2008.
