The Sparkling Jewelwing (Calopteryx dimidiata) is a stream damselfly of the eastern United States. Records range from New England southwest to east Texas. The shots here of a male, female and a pair were taken along the Conasauga River, Chattahoochee National Forest, Murray Co., Georgia, in July, 2005. These digital images were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens with a 2X extender and 580 EX flash.

The next 6 images of male Sparkling Jewelwings were taken in Jasper Co., Texas, in April, 2010, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and an EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender and 580 flash.
The teneral male Sparking Jewelwing on the right provided a new early date record for Texas. The shot was taken in Jasper Co., in mid March, 2012.
