Scarlet Bluet
Enallagma pictum
The Scarlet Bluet (Enallagma pictum) is a species which is only found in the northeastern United States from New Jersey to Maine. It is a beautiful damselfly which often stays perched on vegetation in fairy deep water and thus may be difficult to photograph. I was more than waist deep in water to get these shots of a male which were taken in Raymond Township, Rockingham Co., New Hampshire, in August, 2009, with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and an EF 300mm F/4 L IS lens and 2X extender and 580 flash.
The next 10 images of Scarlet Bluet were taken at the same Rockingham Co., New Hampshire location as the above images, but this batch of images is from June, 2010. The same photo gear as above was used.
