| The Ozark Clubtail (Gomphus ozarkensis) occurs only in four states, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas and Missouri. It may be locally common along certain creeks and rivers within its limited range. It is similar to a number of other species, but a combination of the pattern of color on the club, its range, size, and other characters allow a field identification with a little practice. The first 12 images on this page were taken in the Ouachita National Forest, McCurtain Co., Oklahoma, in May, 2011. These images were taken with a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and a Sigma 50-500mm lens and Canon 580 flash. The first five shots show different male Ozark Clubtails. |  |
