Occulted Emerald
Somatochlora minor
The Occulted Emerald (Somatochlora minor) occurs across much of Canada as well as the northwestern and northeastern United States. It is often seen foraging along shady conifer forest edges, or along quiet roadways. The 2 shots here were taken in Klamath Co., Oregon, in August, 2008, with a canon EOS 1D Mark III and EF 300mm F/4 l IS lens and 2X extender. These were the only images I was able to get on this occasion, but perhaps I will get more on another occasion.
